Dawgs Come Back to Win Game 1, Shutout Expos in Game 2

Dawgs Win 3-1, 1-0 in Sweep

The NJ Dawgs swept the Roxbury Expos at Horseshoe Lake on Sunday. The Dawgs trailed 1-0 until the top of the seventh inning. Tyler Goff singled with two outs and later scored on a wild pitch. The Dawgs added two runs in the top of the eighth when Ian D.-W. was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Goff walked with the bases loaded. Goff also picked up the save, pitching a scoreless eighth inning.

Dylan Harlos started the game for the Dawgs and gave up one unearned run through seven innings. He walked one batter and gave up six hits while striking out 11 Expos.

Game two was also a close game. Goff led off the bottom of the first with a walk. Courtesy runner and newlywed Tyler Branham stole second and scored on a single by Bert Tice. This ended up being the winning run as starting pitcher John Minetti shut out the Expos for six innings before handing the ball over to Mike Grace to secure the save. Minnetti gave up six hits, walked two batters and had nine strikeouts.

The Dawgs are now in second place in the Elite Wood American Division and will host the third place Bergen Knights at Free Union Field in Great Meadows on July 21 in a double header starting at 10:00am.
