Branham & Grace go deep, Bert goes the distance

The Dawgs lost 5-4 and tied 2-2 versus the Astros on Sunday in a double header in Great Meadows. Tyler Branham started the day with a lead-off homer in game 1 on his way to a 3 for 4 day at the plate. This was Branham's first home run in over 20 years and only home run on a field with 90' base paths. Mike Grace added a solo home run of his own in the bottom of the 6th to cut the deficit to 4-2. The Dawgs rallied for two more runs in the 7th but went on to lose 5-4. Tyler Coltelli started the game for the Dawgs and surrendered 2 earned runs over 3 innings. Grace pitched 4 innings of relief and surrendered 1 unearned run on 1 hit.

Bert Tice pitched his 4th complete game of the season in game 2 and gave up 1 earned run and struck out 7 on his way to a no-decision as the Dawgs tied the Astros 2-2.  The Dawgs scored their first run in the 5th on back-to-back triples to lead off the inning, followed by an RBI single by Grace to score Branham in the 5th.

The Dawgs will host the North Jersey Sox in a 10:00 double header at Free Union Field in Great Meadows Sunday. These teams split their last meeting in mid-August with the Dawgs losing game 1, 8-6 and winning game 2, 5-1.
