Dawgs fail to reach semis for first time since 2012

The 5th seeded Dawgs fell to the 4th Seeded Jersey Jays at Ridgefield Veterans Park Sunday, marking the earliest end to their season since 2012. The Dawgs had reached the division semifinal or championship each of the last 7 seasons. The Dawgs lost 6-1, scoring their lone run in the 6th inning when Mike Grace knocked in Tyler Branham with a RBI single. Branham led the Dawgs with three hits and a stolen base. Bert Tice started the game for the Dawgs and gave up 4 runs on 8 hits while striking out 3 and walking 1 in the loss. Grace came in in relief for 3 innings and surrendered 2 runs while striking out the last 4 batters he faced.

Despite the team's early exit in the playoffs, there were many bright spots for the Dawgs this season. Of the nearly 200 hitters in the ABA's Elite Wood American division, Tyler Branham finished top-10 in runs scored, hits, total bases, walks, and hit by pitch. Most notably, Branham finished 2nd in stolen bases in the division and tied for 4th in singles among all 956 hitters in the entire ABA. Bert Tice finished 9th in hits among all ABA hitters,  3rd in the division, and 1st in the division in singles. On the mound, Tice finished 4th in the division in innings pitched and 3rd in strikeouts  with a 1.49 ERA. Gianni Morano also led the division in saves.

The Dawgs would like to thank the Amateur Baseball Association,  their team sponsor, J.P. Kelly's, and their families for their support this season.
