Dawgs Win to Advance to Fourth Championship in Five Years

The Dawgs are advancing to the ABA Elite Wood National Division Championship after defeating the Riverside Bombers 7-5 at Free Union Field after taking a late lead. The Bombers took the lead in the 1st on a throwing error by starting pitcher Ian Denzer-Weiler. Dan Gardner tied the game in the bottom of the 2nd on a fielder's choice.

The Dawgs trailed 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Matt Sargent scored. Mike Grace knocked in Tyler Branham to take the lead for good.

The Dawgs added one more run in the 6th on a single by Tyler Coolyeti and three more runs in the 7th to take a 7-2 lead.

Despite the deficit, the Bombers fought back, scoring three runs in the 8th.

Brian Bollette earned the win for the Dawgs. He went four innings, surrendering three runs, five hits, and striking out four.

Ian D.-W. started the game for the Dawgs. He threw five innings, giving up two runs, two hits, and striking out three.

The Dawgs collected eight hits as a team. Grace and Bert each collected multiple hits. Grace went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead in hits.

The Dawgs are advancing to their 4th championship in the past 5 years. They'll host the Clifton Dodgers in a doubleheader to start the best of 3 series. The two seven-inning games will be played at Free Union Field on Mountain Lake Road in Great Meadows.
