Dawgs Win Second Title in Fourth Trip to Finals Since 2013

Grace Went 7-strong to Secure Championship

Amazing Grace: Grace Strikes Out 11 in Championship Win

The Dawgs brought home their second ABA Elite Wood National Division Championship last Sunday after beating the Clifton Dodgers 10-1. The NJ Dawgs jumped out to an early lead thanks to being patient at the plate; they drew 6 walks in the bottom of the first. Mike Grace knocked in the game's first run on a sac fly, scoring Tyler Branham. The first inning was also punctuated by a bases loaded double by Dan Gardner.

The Dodgers threatened in the fourth with the bases loaded and no outs but Grace struck out the next three batters to escape the inning. The Dodgers tried to rally in the ninth with a 1-out triple but it was erased by a 1-3-2 double play to end the game.

Grace earned the win for the Dawgs. He tossed seven innings, allowing one run, three hits, and striking out 11. Brian Bollette sealed the win tossing two innings of shutout baseball.

Aaron Feldman, Gardner and Tyler Coolyeti each drove in two runs to lead the Dawgs. Dawgs shortstop Tyler Branham was productive all game, scoring two runs and collecting three hits and four stolen bases. 30 year-old Kellen Bradley also added two steals.

This season marked the fourth time since 2013 that the Dawgs reached the championship. They also won the National Division in the ABA Elite Wood League in 2015 and tied in 2014. This is their third championship overall dating back to their 2005 championship victory as the Roxbury Bulldogs.

The team would like to thank all of their fans for their support throughout the season. The commitment the players show and the sacrifices they and their families make for the team are what has fueled our continued success. Until next season, Go Dawgs!
